Treatment

Magnesium-oxygen therapy

Magnesium-oxygen therapy improves the supply of blood and oxygen in all organs from head to toe. It acts directly on the arterioles, the smallest vessels that regulate the blood flow of all organs. I give magnesium as an injection straight into the vein, while in the same session oxygen is breathed through a nasal cannula. You feel the effect at once.

What happens in the small vessels

Even when the large arteries have no stenoses, too little blood arrives in the capillaries when the microcirculation is disturbed. The reason is that the arterioles can narrow in a pathological way. Flow in the capillaries then becomes weaker or stops altogether. The tissue then lacks oxygen, even though the large vessels are open.

The lack of oxygen in the tissue then causes the typical complaints, such as pain, lack of strength, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, dizziness, a dazed feeling, fatigue, lack of energy, breathlessness, visual disturbances, oedema, blue lips and a pale complexion.

Why magnesium and oxygen

Magnesium releases this narrowing. The arterioles widen, more blood reaches the capillaries and the tissue is supplied with oxygen again. Together with the oxygen inhalation and the important micronutrients we potentiate the effect and give the mitochondria everything they need for optimal energy production.

Where I use magnesium-oxygen therapy

I use magnesium-oxygen therapy when disturbed blood flow (a disorder of the microcirculation) is responsible for your symptoms. That is often the case in:

  • Hypertension
  • Circulation problems of the heart, the brain, or the arms and legs
  • Angina pectoris
  • Peripheral arterial disease
  • Cardiac arrhythmias
  • Hypertensive heart disease
  • Pulmonary hypertension
  • Long COVID and post-vac syndrome
  • ME/CFS and prolonged exhaustion
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Migraine
  • Raynaud’s syndrome
  • Asthma
  • Dementia
  • Polyneuropathy
  • Pain in muscles or nerves
  • Chronic muscle tension
  • Depression

You feel the effect at once as a wave of heat running through the body. Over a treatment series of several weeks, a lasting improvement of the symptoms is to be expected.

How a session runs

You lie comfortably. I inject the magnesium into a vein, and you breathe oxygen through a nasal cannula. I set amount and duration according to how you feel. The practice team is with you throughout.

Before the first session I measure kidney function in the laboratory. The kidneys excrete magnesium, and I want to know this value before we start. Please bring your medication list, especially medicines for the heart, blood pressure and kidneys, and tell me whether you already take magnesium.

Depending on your symptoms I plan a treatment series over several weeks. We agree together how close the appointments are.

Where the method comes from

Magnesium-oxygen therapy was developed by Prof. Dr. med. Elfriede Leniger-Follert, a specialist in physiology. At the Institute of Applied Physiology at the University of Marburg and at the Max Planck Institute for Systems Physiology she studied how magnesium opens the small vessels and how additional oxygen supplies the cells better again.
